Homemade Energy Drinks

Have you ever wondered what ingredients are in Gatorade? Have you ever had a Monster energy drink, or maybe a Propel or Red Bull? These drinks are tasty and can increase your energy before and after playing sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, or other physical activities. We even see famous athletes drink them on TV, encouraging you to drink them so you can have more energy, just like them.

It’s sad to say, but these beverages are made up of many harsh ingredients like food coloring, large amounts of added sugar, and others that are hard to pronounce that are not good for you. On top of that, energy drinks are expensive and that cost adds up.

It’s not always bad to have one energy drink on occasion when you are exercising for a long time, but there is a healthier, cheaper way to boost your energy and stay hydrated: make your own sports drink! For the same price as one energy drink you bought at the store, you’ll be able to make about 5 drinks with these ingredients. You’ll love the way it tastes and you’ll love how it makes you feel when you play your sport, and remember, drink plenty of water, too!

  • 2 cups of water
  • ½ cup of fruit juice
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of pink salt
