How to Pack your Lunch

Packing lunch is so much fun. To start packing your lunch, you’ll need to pick out a lunchbox so you can easily take your food with you. Maybe you like superheroes, unicorns, or a certain TV show. There’s a lunchbox for everyone out there! A bag that you can use again works as a lunchbox, too!

Once you have your lunchbox, it’s time to choose the food that goes inside. A healthy lunch has a few components: veggies, fruits, proteins, and fat. Always be sure to include green vegetables like lettuce, kale, broccoli, green beans, or pea pods. If you don’t love those, consider packing carrots, cauliflower, bell pepper, or tomatoes. All of them are so good for you and will give you energy to focus on your homework or while you’re in class.

Fruits are the next aspect of a healthy lunch. Add a cup of blueberries, strawberries, mango, kiwi, or even grapes. You can eat grapes at room temperature or frozen if you want an icy treat! If you don’t like those, try a banana or maybe a nice, crisp apple. Apples come in many colors, sizes, and varieties. Some are tart and some are sweet, so no matter what taste you like best, you will definitely find the right one for you.

The last part of a healthy lunch is protein and fat. Depending on your diet, you might eat lean meats like chicken or turkey, or even nuts, lentils, or a black bean burger. You can even mix nuts with whole grains and fruit! No matter what you choose, it’s important to eat enough protein and fat so that you feel full and have enough energy to crush your school day!
